Should you venture to Avery and perhaps points beyond it is advisable to be bring what you need with you.  Although should you forget something basic you will likely be able to get it in Avery.  You can buy beer, wine and liquor n Avery.

The Avery Store and  Motel came under new management in 2019. The new restaurant/bar , now called TFP, is currently open Thursday thru Sunday. They serve  great wood fired pizza as well as fried fried chicken and a selection of beer and wine.  The store sells Fish and Game licenses, fishing tackle, ammunition, and basic sporting goods. Common groceries, drinks, ice, liquor, and supplies can be purchased there as well as gas and diesel.  

The Idaho Fly Fishing Company offers deli sandwiches, coffee, ice cream cones, as well as quality fly fishing equipment.   The Avery gift shop offers unique items of the St. Joe valley.

In the town  center is the fish pond , the Avery jail, and a restored Pullman car, all of which are the favorites among visitors. The old railroad depot is aside the fish pond and serves as the post office, library, museum, and community center.  Across the road  from the fish pond is the Avery Gift shop that sells items unique to the St. Joe River Valley.

There are trained EMT's in or near Avery with ambulance at the Ranger Station seven miles down river. The nearest hospital is about an hours drive from Avery in the town of St. Maries.
